New washing machine, 2025 CNY predictions, musings on watches…

The folks are over at the shoebox to receive our new washing machine. Looked nice -a Panasonic, iirc. Big glass lid. Mom and Dad argued over washing schedules. 2025 is a year when Ox signs of the Chinese zodiac get pretty worked up. Master Paul Ng recommended they do not overwork or get overstressed. You can watch Renerqi’s video here.

Feeling a little jarred by the folks’ emotions -always fussing over little things and blowing up over details. Can’t believe I’m carrying their hearts and medical conditions during these end times. Hope they find God soon and leave Him to judge, instead of being judgmental. My parents are pretty f’ed up due to odd upbringings, post-war poverty, telepathic intrusion.

It also came up yesterday: why do people fuss over watches? This is more relaxing to explain. BTW, it’s been 6 days and my new Casio Edifice gained 0s. It could stay under +40s per year which will be amazing.

There are but 2 functions of a watch which are: to keep time, calendar, moonphase, sun-up/down, mark or set markers (alarms). Basically everything to do with monitoring a schedule. The second function of a watch is to protect time from being misread whether through bumps, soakings, magnetism, poor light, erratic inner machinery, insufficient power reserve.

It is the combination of these 2 things that mesmerize watch enthusiasts like myself. When 2 ideals become one in the metal. There are actually NO further complications like showing off wealth / status, investing, ocd budgeting, being modern vs. traditional -all these are secondary “lies” we confuse ourselves with and thus buy watches that are wrong.

Don’t we all go into a dealer with specs in mind? 38mm, 100m WR, under $2k, sapphire crystal, locking crown, day-date, then we look over the stock and our minds start to turn -you mean it looks like THIS? Well… okay then, how much discount? And like all things people make, an icon might that day be born and copied / lusted over mindlessly by all of us.

It is iconism, a form of idolatry, that pushes us towards further purchases in a mad rush to complete ourselves, lost in the sea of intellectual bling. The Amish should make watches -it would help my spirituality.

I do still want an STLS300H at circa $33. It’s the mini sized watch of my dreams with solar charging. All my other solars are overly large. But no rush. Maybe next month when things settle down more.
