I went out for a long walk in the sun and am back, feeling good. Ate a nasi lemak (rice dish) with gusto to reenergize. While out, I picked up Vinnfier tws buds for just $17. Vin are Malaysian owned afaik, and first impressions of these buds were mixed.
The case is smaller than the QCY Ailypods, around the same as the Apple AirPods 2, squatter but thicker. The buds themselves are like the Sony wfc500 in shape but imho, more in your face, bulgier and shiny -gotta love shiny round things! I got these in black-metallic dark purple and couldn’t be happier.
There is a pause 2x tap, and L-R tapping for -/+volume. A major selling point is you can wear them in the shower or a rainstorm. Some reviewers okay these for use on boats, and other water craft, ymmv. They should not be submerged.
Have to say reception is an issue, with a direct line to your phone they’re okay, otherwise sound drop occurs. Sound itself, first impressions, was overly bassy and lacking treble. Otherwise, they seal out noise moderately and waft over it quite well. The ear fit is good and slippping them on and off, not a problem.
If you’re a commuter, an on the go person, these may be for you, especially if you’re budget and style conscious. If you like tws ASMR, it’s pretty good for that. Yes the lid flips shuts on jerking. If you want to avoid the stereotypical AirPods look, these are quite a good alternative.
I’m running them thru my library now and will report on their fidelity later…
I would say the sound suffers from a darkish cast of bass bleed. There is some stereo detail placement which is quite delightful. Some may find their music a mix of intimate / recessed. Recommended for hip-hop / r&b / modern rock / alternative. Not very good for jazz. Acceptable but somewhat muted on classical. Quite okay for acoustic / unplugged. If you listen in noisier environments, these may be for you. Audiophiles, these are not for you unless you don’t mind EQ.
I tried to improve the sound by trying different tips such as memory foam and Spin-fits. The best was the largest size of bundled tips. Bass was more controlled and details finally emerged in the midrange. Downside is it’s a leetle bit uncomfortable. Suffer for the fidelity!
…
I applied the ‘iTunes Perfect Equalizer’ and the sound is much livelier. These are fast becoming my favorite buds. Partly they’re WR, cheap, and snazzy looking.
Also noticed they play well with big and multilayered songs. There is no sound of strain or feeling caged. Of course, EQ was applied as above. I listened without fatigue to Meteorites by the Bunnymen, and Dirty by Sonic Youth. Well worth the 79RM.
